One does not realize others pain if he or she has not gone through it. Sufferings of others may not evoke strong emotive response or urgency. Whenever one is on the other side of the table, he or she is always apprehensive, defensive and less analytical. We as a routine see so many patients, some of them critical /in irreversible condition. Patients overriding attitude, non - compliance and doubting arrogance puts us off and occasionally we doctors tend to loose our composure.
What happens when one of us or any member of our family falls sick and is required to be taken to some consultant in a hospital. One would not know how to reach the doctor if the hospital happens to be in public sector. There is so much of rush and there are no comfortable waiting rooms either.
