Study provides Class I evidence that riluzole reduces, by at least 5 points, the ICARS score (International co-operative rating scale)in patients with a wide range of disorders that cause cerebellar ataxia (risk difference 63.2%, 95% CI 33.5%-79.9%). However, Longer studies and disease-specific trials are needed to confirm whether these findings can be applied in clinical practice.
Riluzole is available in India but the cost is the problem (Rs 200/tab) how far people can afford for its questionable efficacy, is still to be explored.
