Recently, there has been a steep rise in violence against doctors but a few days ago I tasted it myself. I am practising psychiatrist and from time to time I do get violent patients. But few days ago, an old patient walked in and asked for consultation. I gave her the medicine and she asked me to give her certificate regarding her treatment. I refused saying that I am not the authorised person since mine is a private clinic.
She started arguing with me but I refused to give her the certificate so she started threatening me that she will drag me to court, started making completely false allegations of cheating her to the extent that she will write my name in her suicide note. She created a scene in the clinic and refused to leave. I informed the manager but even his intervention was not helpful.
