Granular cell tumors are benign tumors showing neural differentiation . They were initially described by Abrikossoff in 1926 . In light microscopy, the stroma shows predominantly large cells with centrally located nuclei and abundant eosinophilic, granular cytoplasm . The overlying epithelium shows pseudo-epitheliomatous hyperplasia. Thin bands of connective tissue separate the individual tumor cells.
The granular tumor cells are periodic acid-Schiff (PAS) positive, diastase resistant, and luxol fast blue positive . In addition, they show intense positivity to S-100 and CD57 on immunohistochemistry. On higher magnification, the tumor cells demonstrate large, round, eosinophilic granular bodies, surrounded by a halo, which are 4-5 ยตm in size (Cover image, black arrow). The presence of these bodies is often suggestive of granular cell tumors. Question: What are the large, round,โฆ
