In 1985 December I have worked a hypothesis along with my colleague. This was started with a dissertation on Hansen's disease and trace elements especially copper and zinc, which was read by me. The hypothesis was sent to international and national research bodies with no positive reply. The first case of HIV was made in India only in May 1986. The hypothesis was related to Role of Zinc and Vitamin A In AIDS.
Our conclusion was they are low and supplementation helps. In spite of big efforts, I could not prove it by laboratory means. In 1988, in France and Italy, scientists reported low Zinc in AIDS patients and seen by me in net articles which were a rare incident in India at that time. I have presented the same to International Conference on AIDS in Bombay in December 1990 as "Role of Zinc in AIDS" and was well received.
