Laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) is a standard surgical procedure to treat gallbladder stones. LC is less invasive, safe to perform, and associated with reduced postoperative complications, faster recovery, and shorter hospital stays. However, about 2 to 15% of LC are reported to be converted to open cholecystectomy during the surgery. These conversions depend on several risk factors, including emergency surgery, acute cholecystitis, choledocholithiasis, diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, neurological disease, and anatomical uncertainty.
