To improve the performance and standard of medical services in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Health Ministry implemented a Health Performance Program named Adaa’ in early 2017. Following implementation of the program, the patients’ waiting time at the Outpatient clinics and Emergency Department was reduced by 58 and 18 percent, respectively in 2018. Highlights of improvements in the healthcare system since 2017 Waiting time for an appointment at outpatient clinics reduced by 58%. Referral to consultation time in mental health outpatient clinics reduced by 21%. The number of patients treated in a period of 4 hours increased by 140%.

Length of hospital stay reduced from an average of 6-7 days to 5-6 days. In-patients’ satisfaction and patient-to-bed ratio increased by 20%. Duration of ICU stays reduced by 16%. Source: Saudi Arabia Ministry Of Health
