Violence against doctors is not only pervasive in government hospitals and resident doctors but also private ones and seasoned doctors. A leading North Delhi hospital saw an assault of a senior cardiologist by patient relatives of a deceased patient. An acute heart attack patient coming to the hospital at the age of 74 died after being admitted to an ICU and thereafter where he developed ventricular fibrillation and died. The senior cardiologist was blamed for the death by enraged patient relatives.
Security guards did not intervene, and the doctor also tried to call 100 and finally filed an MLC.
