Hi everyone, A 32-year-old lady presented with Recurrent severe hypocalcemia (S. Calcium 5-6mg/dl) requiring frequent admission to hospital requiring IV calcium gluconate. She underwent Thyroidectomy for Multinodular Goitre, 3 years ago. She is not responding to Calcium and Calcitriol supplementation. (She is taking 1500 mg of Calcium carbonate along with 0.75 micrograms of Calcitriol daily) Her S.Magnessium is normal. Last week she had a life-threatening hypocalcemia with laryngospasm and apnea, fortunately responded to IV calcium gluconate.
Almost every month she requires admission to hospital for severe hypocalcemia. How to proceed? Is there any PTH preparation available on India? What is the cost and trade name? Any other treatment options?
