Serum endotrophin (ETP) has been associated with insulin resistance and inflammation; however, its relationship with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes and the impact of short-term intensive insulin (STII) therapy remain unexplored. To address this gap, the effects of STII pump therapy on serum ETP levels and insulin resistance were evaluated in 40 patients aged 18โ70 years. The study found that patients with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes had significantly higher serum ETP levels than controls, which markedly decreased after 2 weeks of STII pump therapy.
Serum ETP levels showed a positive correlation with homeostasis model 2 assessment of IR (HOMA2-IR) both before and after treatment, and changes in ETP (ฮด-ETP) were independently associated with changes in insulin resistance (ฮด-HOMA2-IR), indicating improved metabolic outcomes following STII therapy. These findings suggest that serum ETPโฆ
