The rate of sick doctors working is increasing, mainly due to unavailability of leaves. Should they treat patients when they are unwell? In the past few months, there have been many incidences where sick doctors had to keep working as they did not get leave from the hospital, especially for diseases that are contagious like TB. This got me thinking if doctors should treat patients when they are unwell?
Are there any guidelines about this? What are the medicolegal aspects? Please provide your inputs.
