The COVID-19 pandemic has taught us various lessons, and being self-sufficient during a pandemic crisis is one of them. Researchers are searching for more innovative ways to detect and diagnose COVID-19 at home. This would mean lesser crowds at hospitals and more safety. Scientists are now touting sensor data from wearable technologies to identify signals that could indicate COVID-19 infection.
A team of researchers developed a smartphone app for collecting data from the smartwatch and activity tracker and collating it with the data from self-reported symptoms, and diagnostic testing results from individuals. This technology was then used to develop and assess whether symptom and sensor data can differentiate COVID-19 positive compared to negative cases in symptomatic individuals. The study was named DETECT and titled βWearable Sensor Data and Self-reported Symptoms for COVID-19β¦
