Peptic ulcers are one of the most common gastrointestinal disorders. Though these can be diagnosed with the help of a detailed medical history, physical examination, and laboratory tests, the confirmatory diagnosis requires endoscopy and biopsy. Thus, a novel approach to overcome the need of invasive procedures is required which is the ultrasound-based diagnosis and staging of ulcers.

In the present commentary, Dr. Vikas Jadhav discusses the ultrasound-based diagnosis of GI neoplastic diseases, and further elaborates on the management of ulcers with the help of stricture and biopsy of tumor thrombus.
