A very recent paper published in JAMA says that stenting does not relieve symptoms of stable angina. In a trial, about 200 patients with single-vessel stenoses received 6 weeks of medication optimization that is followed by cardiopulmonary exercise testing and symptom questionnaires. The patients with stable angina were randomly assigned for percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) or placebo. The results of the trial show that the symptoms of stable angina did not improve significantly between the two groups. Source: Slomski, A.
