No one can deny that government hospitals are overcrowded and that the government doctors are overburdened. The recent report saying that Indian doctors spend less than 2 minutes with one patient is the proof of their heavy workload. Another report has come recently which says that there is high risk of acquiring hospital-associated infections in over 70% of government health centers. The report states that most of these hospitals do not follow the standard protocol to limit hospital-borne infections.
This report is going to create another bout of blame-game because whenever anything goes wrong, it takes no time for everyone to start blaming doctors. Let me ask, what about the lack of facilities, finances and shortage of staff leading to such bad conditions in government hospitals? Why doesn’t anyone think about dedicated doctors who toil in such poor conditions to deliver medical care?
