A research team at UC Santa Barbara found that ketogenic diets may be safe, feasible, and effective in patients with polycystic kidney disease (PKD) and have explained the mechanism of ketosis. A total of 131 patients with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD), who opted for a ketogenic diet or time-restricted diets in the past six months, were recruited for the study through interviews and questionnaires.
