It happened yesterday(21.02.2016) during the Inter-school athletic meet at Pondicherry. A XI standard boy aged about 17 years ran for about 100 meters only in the 1500 meters race, when he fell down on the track and lay motionless. He was lifted and taken to General Hospital which is just a KM away. Doctors declared him as "Brought dead". The boy was a keen football player and used to take part in regular practice and school level tournaments. He never had any health problem.
During examination, the doctor has noticed cinder ash (from the track ) in his mouth and nostril since he fell down face down. My questions are: 1. What may be the possible cause of this sudden and unexplained death? 2. What should doctors do when faced with such a situation? Please share your views and suggestions.
