Sudden death (SD) in apparently healthy individuals presents a very challenging situation for medical examiners, law enforcement officers, and society. Since death certificate coding lacks standardization and the definitions of SD vary, it becomes difficult to interpret epidemiological data. In some cases, the causes of SD are identifiable through the amalgamation of several important pieces of evidence during the crime scene investigation, autopsy, and external examination. Anamnesis and clinical data are also collected to identify the exact cause of death.
