Case presentation A 20-year-old girl was referred by her family doctor to a community mental health team for psychiatric issues. Her family reported that she had been living alone for the last year after her father’s death. The family physician mentioned that the girl was socially withdrawn, preoccupied, and distractible when she presented to him four months ago. As a result, the family physician prescribed her citalopram, 40 mg, once a day. However, her condition did not improve, and she started speaking to herself, expressing concerns that people could harm her.
Medical history As per the family’s opinion, the patient was overweight and a slow learner at her school.
