Passive Euthanasia and right to 'living will' have been a cause of many arguments within the medical world as well as the public. Advocating the recognition of the ‘living will’ an NGO ‘Common Cause’ had approached the Supreme court and contended that a person with a terminal illness should be given right to refuse being put on life support. The petition further added that ‘every person should have right to prevent torture on their own body, the right to die with dignity.
A person forced to live on an artificial support is an assault on their body.’ A five-judge constitution bench will decide the fate of Passive Euthanasia and if the ‘living will’ of a terminally ill patient can be honored. Let's wait and see which way the court verdict goes.
