83 yr old lady presented with visible and palpable bowel loops, obstipation for 2 days.H/O CABG 5yrs back. DRE-ballooning present, no mass lesion. Abdominal exam-abdomen soft. Palpable bowel loops, no lump, managed conservatively including flatus tube for 12 hrs, not relieved. Taken for laparotomy.
Massively dilated large gut upto caecum with colonisation of mesentery, thick walled colon. Small bowel normal no mass no lymphadenopathy, decompression done by loop transverse colostomy. Plan to do colonoscopy in postop period to rule out IBD. Any comments.
