There has been a continuous debate regarding whether to prescribe the antibiotics to children below 8 years. Most of the pediatricians refrain from prescribing antibiotics in common infections such as cold and mild fever. However, the new study emerged just this week suggests early administration may prevent serious respiratory diseases in children. The onset of recurrent, severe episodes of lower respiratory tract illness (LRTI) are common in children under 5 years.
Most of the times viruses are responsible for these infections, but it has been found that bacteria also play a serious role in developing these illnesses.
