Objective: The aim of this study was to perform a computer-guided occlusal adjustment study using a Randomized Clinical Trial (RCT) design and to either corroborate or contradict the TMD symptom resolution efficacy reported in prior, non-RCT studies. Methods and Materials: 104 first-year dental students were randomly assigned to a Treatment group (55) that received the Immediate Complete Anterior Guidance Development (ICAGD) coronoplasty or assigned to a control group (49) that received a placebo rubber cup polishing. All subjects scored a Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI–II), a Functional Restriction questionnaire, a Pain Scale, a Frequency of Symptoms scale and a Frequency of Pain Scale before receiving ICAGD or placebo polishing.
