There have been many developments for the management of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) in recent years. Tivozanib, a kinase inhibitor, has been approved by the USFDA for treatment of advanced RCC in adult patients. Tivozanib is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor that inhibits the phosphorylation of vascular endothelial growth factor receptors (VEGFR). These mechanisms inhibit tumor growth and progression, successfully treating advanced carcinomas, including RCC.
