“Tomato flu” is proving to be a major cause of concern with its prevalence in children below the age of five years. It remains unclear if this flu is a variant of the hand-foot-and mouth disease and/or a consequence of chikungunya or dengue. As the pathogen may persist in the system for weeks even after the symptoms have subsided, it is of utmost importance to know the etiology of the flu.
