A new provocative findings have emerged out of the study conducted by Dutch scientist related to transfusions when females as donors. The study was conducted to determine if there exists any association between red blood cell transfusion from female donors with and without a history of pregnancy on the recipient mortality. This article reports the observations of this study.

Background Since 2011, several studies have revealed that when men who received blood transfusions from women were at higher risk of mortality than men who received blood from male donors. However, it was not clear yet if the history of pregnancy in case of the female donor was associated with a high risk of mortality.
