Whenever a patient comes with a history of sinusitis he will have had many consultations from different doctors. most of the time the treatment given is antibiotics, pain killers vitamins and lastly steam inhalation. My question is does steam inhalation help? My common sense and experience tells me that steam inhalation does not help.

When you breath in steam through the nose it goes to the sinuses but as it cools down it condenses to water and accumulates in the sinuses. If we give dry heat in the form of heating pad or a bag of heated salt or sand on the forehead and cheeks it will dry up the leaking nose and reduces the sinusitis. I have tried this with good results. I would like to get an opinion from my esteemed colleagues.
