In case no CC/12/550 before Kolkata I Consumer Dispute Redressal Forum in a case of postoperative retinal detachment in cataract surgery in an eye with previous glaucoma surgery, the ophthalmologist cousin of the patient wrongly supplied a weak expert advice to help his cousin's complaint. It contained obviously wrong statements such as “ cryo retinopexy is never done today”. When a complaint of professional misconduct against this erring physician was made to the concerned medical council, he retracted his “expert advice” leaving his cousin complainant open to the charge of giving false evidence…
