The UAE MoHAP has recently launched the updated version of the Hypertension Guideline 2019 with an aim to provide best preventive and therapeutic services for hypertensive patients. The new guideline is in accordance with the guideline developed by the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) and the European Society of Hypertension (ESH). According to this updated guideline, adults aged 30 years and older should be screened for hypertension to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
Diagnostic Recommendations Optimal blood pressure (BP): 120/70 mm Hg Systolic BP in the range of 120-129 mmHg and diastolic BP in the range of 70-79 mmHg is considered as normal BP reading above 140/90 mmHg is indicative of Stage 1 hypertension If an individual is diagnosed with Stage 1 hypertension, a treatment regimen for a period of 3 to 6 months is recommended.
