Increased number of deaths within three days of surgery has been reported and use of Industrial Grade N 2 O in place of medical N 2 O in giving general anaesthesia has also been observed in a hospital of UP state. Technically, it is a non-pharmacopeial gas and does not come in the category of allowed drug. Though, a probe is under process to find its link with high mortality but what is your expert opinion based on differences between industrial and medical N 2 O gas.
