The USFDA has recently approved aprocitentan for treating adult patients with resistant hypertension in combination with other antihypertensive drugs. Aprocitentan is an endothelin receptor antagonist. Its safety and efficacy were evaluated in clinical trials.

Clinical evidence In clinical trials (PRECISION, NCT03541174) involving 730 patients, aprocitentan was well tolerated and attained superiority in reducing systolic blood pressure at week four and sustaining the effect at week 40 compared to placebo.
