The USFDA has approved deucravacitinib for the treatment of moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis in adults who may benefit from systemic therapy or phototherapy. Contraindications Patients with severe hepatic impairment Patients with a history of hypersensitivity to deucravacitinib or any of its excipients Patients on potent immunosuppressants Recommended dosage 6 mg orally once daily, with or without food Common side effects Upper respiratory infections, elevated blood creatine phosphokinase, herpes simplex, mouth ulcers, folliculitis, and acne Warnings and precautions Hypersensitivity reactions such as angioedema Increased risk of infection Tuberculosis Malignancies including lymphoma Rhabdomyolysis and elevated creatinine phosphokinase level Periodical evaluation of triglycerides and liver enzymes level is recommended.
