For many pulmonologists and critical care specialist chest ultrasound has become an integral part of clinical practice. The diagnostic accuracy of ultrasound to detect abnormalities of the pleura, the lung parenchyma, and the thoracic musculoskeletal system is studied and documented. This article intends to provide the signposts to looks for in commonly occurring complications in the critical care settings.
