In India, more than 5 lakh individuals die due to a shortage of organs. One and half lakh wait for a kidney transplant and only 5,000 patients get it on time. There are a lot of myths and fear in people’s mind about organ donation which has led to huge organ donation crises. This article discusses the doctor’s viewpoint on managing the current organ donation crisis. Organ Donation Day is observed on 13 th August across the country.
It aims firstly, to motivate every individual to pledge and donate their organs, and secondly, to educate everyone about the importance of organ donation.
