Diabetic macular edema (DME) is the most common cause of moderate vision loss in diabetic patients. So far, intravitreal dexamethasone implant therapy has been a preferred strategy for DME and several r eports have demonstrated its safety profile. However, very few data are available regarding the visual improvements, early and long-term outcomes after intravitreal dexamethasone implant therapy. In this regard, a recent study investigated whether early visual acuity response to intravitreal dexamethasone implant therapy in DME is associated with long-term outcome.
Study Design The investigators performed a multicenter retrospective review of medical records of eyes with DME treated with 0.7mg intravitreal dexamethasone implant and minimum eighteen-month follow-up.
