The second wave of SARS-CoV-2 has entirely disrupted the ecosystem and added to the burden on waste management processes. Volunteers are exhausted from arranging ambulances, beds, plasma, and other necessities, and waste handling seem to be the last thing on anyone's mind. COVID-19 positive cases among the housekeeping, sanitary, and other waste disposal staff are increasing by the day. They are regularly on the receiving end, often because of people’s carelessness in the garbage disposal.

However, in the current circumstances, there is also a possibility of the waste being beyond one’s capacity to handle. There could be several factors causing this, including the severity of symptoms catching families off guard, anxiety among those who are asymptomatic, emotional tiredness from witnessing that relatives and friends have tested positive, among others.
