Empirical therapy for subfertility using assisted reproductive technologies recently has gained popularity . With controlled ovarian hyperstimulation and IUI , various disorders of subfertility can be treated. The rationale for this therapy is the increase in gamete density at the site of fertilization. Several reports support the use of controlled ovarian hyperstimulation with IUI as the initial treatment of choice in patients with unilateral proximal tubal occlusion . However, the utility of controlled ovarian hyperstimulation and IUI for other disorders still remains a subject of debate in the medical community.
