It is frequently reported that taking statins may lead to diabetes. We often get liver function tests and blood sugar levels monitored in patients on statins, we rarely find some patients developing diabetes. My observation is that if you get Hba1c test done in all cases on statins for more than 5 years, you will find many patients as prediabetics, which later may become diabetics.
