A study has declared that India ranks 145 th among 195 countries in healthcare accessibility and quality. India is lagging behind its neighbours like China (48), Bangladesh (133), Sri Lanka (71) and Bhutan (134). Although better than Nepal (149), Pakistan (154) and Afghanistan (191).

The Global Burden of Disease study has revealed that India shows improvements in healthcare access and quality since 1990, but still needs to be better in providing quality healthcare. According to the study, India performed poorly in resolving the cases of tuberculosis, rheumatic heart diseases, Ischaemic heart diseases, stroke, testicular cancer, colon cancer and chronic kidney disease among other countries.
