Once upon a time, patients would trust doctors to do what was right for them. Today, unfortunately, things have changed completely, and the medical profession is no longer held in high regard. Frankly, most doctors are treated as crooks unless proven otherwise! We doctors need to do some soul searching as a profession in order to think about why things have deteriorated so quickly in a single generation.
Why don't patients respect doctors anymore? It's very easy to blame the biased media or crooked politicians, but as a profession, we need to take responsibility for this sad state of affairs as well.
