A large real‑world multicenter retrospective cohort study found that adults with prurigo nodularis (PN) had a markedly higher prevalence of malignancy compared with matched controls, including hematologic, cutaneous, and internal solid tumors. The association was particularly strong for lymphoid and hematologic cancers, echoing earlier single‑center and registry data that suggested PN can occasionally be a cutaneous marker of underlying neoplasia. While causality cannot be inferred, the findings support a lower threshold for thorough history, examination, age‑appropriate cancer screening, and vigilance for “red flag” systemic features in patients presenting with new or unexplained PN.
