A 13 month's old male child, who has normal developmental milestones of his age, is presenting with slightly delayed speech process. At 13 month's, he is being able to speak only ' AAH ' ' WOH" etc, but not Maa or Papa. Bowel habits are normal. On investigation, serum TSH level was found to be 6.57 u IU/dl (N = < 5.50 u IU / dl ). On detailed investigation, it was found that he was being given Non - iodised salt in the diet.
The parents have been advised to start Iodised Salt immediately. Now, should he be given thyroxine supplementation therapy? Should he be advised for Speech Therapy?
