Although women with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) can have a successful pregnancy, they are at a higher risk of developing pregnancy complications such as pre-eclampsia, hypertension, renal insufficiency, urinary tract infections, and diabetes. Owing to such complications, the treatment choices for lupus patients during pregnancy are restricted.
