Osteoporosis is a global, age-related health issue affecting both elderly males and females. Recent research focuses on how poor glycemic control in diabetic patients contributes to and/or aggravates bone loss in osteoporotic patients. As a result of hypoglycemia, the risk of falls, fragility, and low-impact fractures increases. Effective glycemic control will not only promote osteoblast function, angiogenesis, and bone perfusion but will also help reduce fat accumulation in the marrow cavity, eventually leading to better bone health in diabetic patients.
