According to WHO, over 5% of the population (432 million adults and 34 million children) in the world suffer from disabling hearing loss. It is estimated that by 2050, more than 900 million people would be deaf. World Hearing Day is observed every year on the 3rd of March. It aims to highlight the advances and latest technologies to prevent hearing loss and to overcome it in some cases and also to highlight the challenges faced by individuals with hearing loss.
The theme of this year is – “To hear for life, listen with care!” The World Health Organization highlights the importance of safe listening for maintaining good hearing throughout life and the prevention of hearing loss.
