World Patient Safety Day was established in 2019 by the 72 nd World Health Assembly through the WHA72.6 resolution on “Global action on patient safety” . This day is observed on 17 th September every year to enhance global understanding of patient safety, increase public engagement, and promote global actions to enhance patient safety and reduce patient harm. Data suggests that: Every day, approximately 810 women die from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth. Around 6700 newborns die every day.
About 2 million babies are stillborn every year, with over 40% occurring during labor.
