The Jharkhand government has cleared a proposal making it mandatory for doctors to work in the state for three years after passing out from state-based medical institutes, failing which he/she will be liable for a fine of Rs. 20 lakhs. Earlier, a student was required to complete one year of service after completing an MBBS or a postgraduate course and the fine for failing to do so was between Rs 10 and 20 lakhs. If any student doing MBBS leaves studies mid-way, he/she will have to pay a fine of Rs 20 lakh.

Also, if any student doing PG quits mid-way, he/she will have to pay Rs 30 lakh as fine. The medical students will have to submit bond paper and their original certificate in the colleges. The bond and original certificate will be released after three years of job. Source: Indian Express
