According to the National Health Agency (NHA) data around 68% of some 2.3 lac beneficiaries who were admitted to hospitals under the Ayushman Bharat scheme received treatment in private hospitals. The states like Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and West Bengal are among the top in this list. Under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana (PMJAY), around 2,32,592 beneficiaries received hospitalization in less than 2 months of its rollout on September 23. According to NHA report, oral & maxillofacial surgery, general surgery, ophthalmology, and gynecology were most commonly claimed.
Previously private hospitals had expressed concerns about the low pricing of packages fixed by NHA.
