A 24 years old lady presented to the OPD with the chief complaints of increased frequency of bowel opening, up to five times a day, abdominal pain and feeling generally unwell for the last 6 months. Her GP had found her to be slightly anemic and recommended that she should increase the amount of iron in her diet. Her condition seems to be worsening. Her motions are more frequent than previously, when she went once a day, and they are loose, with flecks of mucus. There is no obvious blood in them.
Her weight has decreased by about 5 kg, despite doing her best to eat healthily. The pain in the abdomen is most frequently localized to the right lower quadrant, and it is constant and moderate in intensity. Opening her bowel has no effect on the pain, and she has not tried any analgesics. She has aching joints, particularly the ankles, wrists, and She has very frequent ulcers in the mouth…
