A major burn is described as a burn covering 25% or more of the total body surface area. The emergency management of any injury of more than 10% is essential. In this article, we have summarized the emergency management approach for managing burn patients. Initial assessment  Respiratory and cardiovascular status should be assessed. The extent and depth of burn injuries should be calculated according to Parkland’s formula. The minor burns should be moistened with cool sterile saline.

Any open blisters should be debrided. The fingers and toes should be wrapped with fluffed gauze by separating the digits. All partial-thickness wounds should be covered with antibiotic ointment.
